Siobhán Winifred features Stevie Bill in “Killers” on her debut EP

Date:

UK singer Siobhán Winifred released her debut EP Don’t Do Well Alone on Sept. 27 via Chess Club Records. EP highlight “Killers” is a new collaboration with Stevie Bill. Winifred’s original version of “Killers” was released last year in October. In this new version, the two artists continue talking about making excuses for someone who doesn’t deserve it while Stevie Bill expands on why they do so in her verses.

Siobhán Winifred opens up her song describing a terrible person she should leave but for some reason can’t. She sings “You suck the life out of every room you’re in” in the first verse. Then in the pre-chorus says, “But I don’t have the guts to / So I’ll just make excuses for you” to emphasize how hard it is to leave someone even when you know how bad they are for you. Indeed, she does make an excuse when she belts out in the chorus, “Maybe you’re one of those killers / Who don’t know why they did it.”

Stevie Bill joins in on the second verse to explain why they’re tempted to make excuses when they sing, “How you charm me with your pretty words / Disguise the things you say.” After her verse, Bill sings her own spin on Winifred’s chorus. Finally, they beautifully sing the chorus at the end of the song together.

Throughout her debut EP, Siobhán Winifred touches on themes like community, friendship, human connection, and personal growth. With lyrics that are vulnerable and relatable, the rising London singer-songwriter encourages listeners to care for their mental health through all her songs by letting them know that it’s okay if they can’t do everything alone, it’s okay if they need a support system.

On why she titled her EP Don’t Do Well Alone, Siobhán says,

“You shouldn’t do well alone. You’re supposed to have a community, a support system, people to lift you up. So it’s almost a reminder to myself, not only do I not do well alone, but I shouldn’t do well alone – that’s the whole point.”

Not only has Siobhán Winifred finally released her debut EP, but she will also be embarking on her first headlining tour this month. So far, she has already sold out venues in London and Glasglow. In November and December, she will support The Snuts. So if you’re a fan in the UK looking to see an indie pop artist live, then consider attending one of Siobhán Winifred’s shows.
