“Hey Gina” by Estella Dawn is your next dance-pop anthem

Date:

If you have room on your end-of-summer playlist, then you must add “Hey Gina” by Estella Dawn. The New Zealand artist released upbeat pop song “Hey Gina” on August 23. In her song, Dawn calls out a woman who broke girl code by willingly being her partner’s mistress.

From the very beginning, listeners are immediately introduced to a fun summer bop with Dawn’s playful laughing and howling. If you love the production of Doja Cat’s hits, then you’ll definitely love the light pop melody in “Hey Gina.”

As she sings to Gina, Dawn makes it clear that she wishes she didn’t have to be mad at her. In the chorus, she beautifully sings “I don’t want to be a bother / But you knew all about me.” Estella Dawn lays down that she is mad at her cheating partner when she sings “I know he’s at fault / Crossed a big line.”

However, Gina is continuously called out for taking part in the affair when she knew about the existing relationship. Dawn sings “But you don’t seem like a girls’ girl” with a judging expression in her lyric video. It would be easier for the singer to only be upset at her cheating man, but she is so taken aback that Gina didn’t mind messing with another girl’s man that she says “I’m a feminist / Hope you came at least three times.” With playful lyrics like that, listeners can feel the frustration and anger towards Gina.

Estella Dawn creates the perfect dance-pop song with an energetic melody, lyrics that tell a story, and humor. During a rise of strong pop girls releasing hits, be sure to follow Estella Dawn as she works to solidify her place among them.
