elijah woods explores “What It Means” to be human in latest single

Date:

Multi-platinum pop artist elijah woods released his single “What It Means” on Oct. 18 ahead of his upcoming EP Elijah Would! which comes out next Friday. With his poignant new song, he takes listeners on a deep, emotional journey.

The song begins with a quiet harmony and simple guitar strums as elijah woods sings with emotional vocals. As we get into the chorus, the beat picks up and elijah begins to sing powerfully about how he feels after someone left him. His chorus is filled with juxtapositions like “I feel happy and lonely / Frustrated and useless / Clever and stupid” to convey the multitude of emotions he’s experiencing.

The post-chorus is absolute perfection as some drum notes bring listeners into an immersive, energetic rock beat. elijah woods’ hauntingly powerful vocals finally take over as he infuses the confusion of simply being human. The last line of his song will keep listeners captivated as they ponder his message, prompting listeners to have another listen: “Yeah, I’m only human and I still don’t know what that means.”

On what his lyrics are supposed to mean, elijah woods says:

“The brutally honest lyrics explore the struggle of understanding what it means to be human and my ongoing quest for maturity.”

“What It Means” was the best single for elijah woods to use to kick off his next project, Elijah Would!, to pop fans. In his next EP coming out on Oct. 25, listeners can expect to hear six songs that will intimately explore themes around love, showing another side of elijah’s artistry.
