Tessa Dalton questions her relationship in indie pop-rock single “Honest?”

Date:

Nashville-based artist Tessa Dalton released her latest single “Honest?” on Sept. 20 about the point in a relationship when someone wonders if it’s going anywhere. She showcases her powerful vocals over an electrifying bass.

She begins the song by asking herself if her relationship is meant to go on any longer with lyrics like “Is it worth it / Or is it all a game?” in the first verse. The chorus showcases how creative and visualizing her songwriting is through lyrics like “Are we just wasting / Driving away on dotted lines.” The music is temporarily on hold when Tessa Dalton wonders out loud if her partner thinks of her late at night before letting the bass pick back up.

The ending is perfect as the bass goes up, the rhythm intensifies, and her singing speeds up to convey the frustration of realizing that being honest led to her realizing the relationship isn’t going anywhere and her partner isn’t the one for her. She admits “I’m just being honest cuz nothing feels right” in the last verse.

With the amazing rock production and raw lyrics of her latest single, Tessa Dalton proves to be promising in the indie pop scene. “Honest?” is the sixth single that the singer-songwriter has released in the past six months. According to Dalton, an earlier version of “Honest?” was a semi-finalist in the 2023 International Songwriting Competition. She is currently studying commercial music at Belmont University.
