Rising alternative singer-songwriter Keni Titus is back after her acclaimed debut album AngelPink. Her new EP AngelPink (no halo) boasts a series of reworked and stripped-back versions of fan-favorite tracks from the album as well as a new song: “the street.” Titus leans into the softness and grace of her debut record on AngelPink (no halo), allowing the grit to fall back and let the vulnerability of her lyricism shine.
“the street” is a standout from the EP. Titus explains more about the new single:
“‘the street’ is a song I wrote about having expectations for someone you’re with and feeling let down when they don’t meet them. At the end of the day, you can’t make someone want something they don’t – or want you if they don’t. I thought the title ‘the street’ was kind of funny because of that saying, ‘he’s for the streets,’ so I had that trope in mind too lol.”
If you were to combine Lizzy McAlpine‘s melancholy and haunting vocals with the dry wit of tracks from ROLE MODEL‘s Kansas Anymore, you would end up with something like “the street.”
The hand-plucked guitar coupled with Titus’s slight Southern twang and dreamy vocals gives breath to the all-consuming ache of a relationship’s end. There’s a quiet anger that hovers just under the surface of the lyrics. She’s upset at her ex for hurting her, but even moreso that she let herself be fooled into falling for someone made “for the streets.”
With the release of AngelPink (no halo), Titus continues to make serious waves in 2026. She recently announced an upcoming direct and sole support slot on ROLE MODEL‘s Chuck on Tour in the EU & UK in February 2027. Tickets are available for purchase here.
