This weekend, Salt Lake City’s beloved Kilby Block Party is back for its 7th year with one of its best lineups yet. Known for its impressive variety of indie, alternative, and pop artists, this year’s festival once again features both standout local bands and iconic headliners that people are stoked to see.
With a lineup this stacked, it can be daunting to plan your schedule, so we’ve put together our top five artists that you absolutely can’t miss!
1. The Kilans
When & where: Saturday, May 16 | 12:50 PM @ Desert Stage
Listen: “Why Is It Light Out?,” “Haunt Me,” “Curly”
Similar artists: West 22nd, Cardinal Bloom, Hallpass
If you didn’t know The Kilans yet, you do now. The Salt Lake City four-piece formed in 2023 after two of the members met skating in college, and their momentum hasn’t stopped since. Their sound pulls from early 2000s garage rock and indie with a live energy that you can’t beat. Kilby feels like a natural next step for the band, and watching them play to a crowd this size in their own backyard is going to be a great time.
2. Briston Maroney
When & Where: Saturday, May 16 | 4:50 PM @ Kilby Stage
Listen: “Freakin’ out on the Interstate,” “Caroline,” “Body”
Similar Artists: Joe P., Arcy Drive, Sarah and the Sundays
Knoxville native Briston Maroney got his start playing folk and Americana, with his 2018 viral hit “Freakin’ out on the Interstate” introducing him to a much wider audience. His sound blends folk roots with 90s-leaning indie rock in a way that feels timeless, and his 2025 album JIMMY is his most personal work yet. If you’re a fan of tunes influenced by Bob Dylan and Neil Young, make sure to catch his set early Saturday evening!
3. The Last Dinner Party
When & Where: Saturday, May 16 | 5:45 PM @ Lake Stage
Listen: “Nothing Matters,” “Caesar on a TV Screen,” “This is the Killer Speaking”
Similar Artists: Florence + the Machine, Wolf Alice, Chappel Roan
Since forming in London in 2021, The Last Dinner Party has moved fast, taking both the internet and the UK charts by storm. Their maximalist, baroque-inspired sound is rooted in femininity, sexuality, and empowerment, complete with theatrical storytelling and powerful vocals. Their debut album Prelude to Ecstasy hit #1 on the UK Albums Chart and earned them a BRITS Rising Star Award, and their 2025 sophomore album From the Pyre has only pushed their sound further. If you’re looking to unleash your feminine rage and witness a truly unforgettable show, this is your set.
4. flipturn
When & Where: Sunday, May 17 | 4:50 PM @ Kilby Stage
Listen: “Rodeo Clown,” “Glistening,” “Sad Disco”
Similar Artists: Del Water Gap, The Backseat Lovers, The Moss
Kicking off the last evening of shows at KBP is Florida-based indie rock band flipturn. Over the recent years, the band has been building one of the more devoted fan bases in the indie rock scene, and it isn’t hard to see why. Their lush, driving sound and poetic lyrics make for a discography with an impressive variety that is guaranteed to be the new soundtrack of your summer. Kilby is one of many stops on flipturn’s festival run this summer, and their Sunday set is a can’t miss.
5. Blood Orange
When & Where: Sunday, May 17 | 7:55 PM @ Lake Stage
Listen: “Champagne Coast,” “Thinking Clean,” “Best to You”
Similar Artists: Frank Ocean, Steve Lacey, Solange
Devonté “Dev” Hynes has spent two decades creating one of the most quiet yet influential careers in modern music, producing for artists including Solange, FKA twigs, A$AP Rocky, and Carly Rae Jepsen. As Blood Orange, his own music is entirely unique: a blend of R&B, jazz, and electronica that truly doesn’t sound like anything else out there. His Sunday set at the Lake Stage is definitely one worth prioritizing.
