State Champs unleash heavier, slightly darker energy with new single “Common Sense”

Date:

State Champs are back with the release of their punchy new single “Common Sense” via Pure Noise Records. The track is the pop-punk icons’ first release since their self-titled fifth record came out last November.

“Common Sense” is a loud, striking track that sees the group take their sound in a heavier direction. Featuring their signature bold style with lively guitar riffs and catchy hooks, State Champs deliver a high-energy exhibit of their evolving sound and intensity. The song deals with realizing that you’ve gaslit yourself into believing you have things in common with someone and figuring out that you were never the right fit. “Common Sense” is an honest account of knowing your worth, fueled by the angsty pop-punk spirit that’s kept State Champs at the top of the scene for the last decade. Speaking on the single, the band shares,

“Common Sense brings out a slightly darker and heavier side to us while keeping the Champ’s integrity strong. Lyrically, it’s about completely investing yourself in someone while also being naive to the fact that you never had anything in common to begin with.”

State Champs will be on tour supporting A Day To Remember and Yellowcard for select dates of their North American Maximum Fun Tour this month. The band is also set to appear at multiple festivals throughout the fall, including Four Chord Music Festival, Vans Warped Tour Orlando, and Aftershock Festival.
