JOJI’s ‘SOLARIS Tour’ burns bright in NYC

Date:

Singer, songwriter, and producer JOJI brought his highly anticipated SOLARIS Tour 2026 to a sold-out Barclays Center on June 26, delivering a performance that highlighted his signature sound, remarkable cinematic production, and the evolution of his career from internet personality to alternative R&B artist. The set featured roughly 25 songs spanning his discography, including tracks from early albums like BALLADS 1 and Nectar, up to his most recent release, Piss In The Wind.

Over a decade ago, JOJI became known for creating online personas, where his surreal comedy skits earned him millions of followers over the years. In 2017, he stepped away from YouTube to focus on music, eventually becoming recognized for blending alternative R&B, lo-fi, and soul with emotionally raw songwriting. Tracks like “Sanctuary,” “YEAH RIGHT,” and his breakout hit “Glimpse of Us” helped establish him as one of the most recognizable voices in modern melancholic pop.

The evening opened with artists Corbin and Nate Sib, both of whom matched the darker, atmospheric tone of the SOLARIS Tour. Corbin, known for his alternative R&B and emo-rap style, welcomed the crowd first with a minimal stage setup that complemented his slower, introspective songs. As fans continued to fill the arena, Nate Sib followed with a more energetic performance, bringing playful graphics and his hyper-pop influenced sound to the night. Moving constantly across the stage, Sib kept the momentum high and helped build anticipation for JOJI’s arrival. Both openers received strong support from the crowd, with fans cheering and calling out their names at the conclusion of their performances.

Around 9 p.m., the lights dropped, and JOJI emerged to the intro of “PIXELATED KISSES,” surrounded by strobing lights and red, cloud-like projections. The crowd immediately erupted, chanting his name as he greeted the audience with a loud, “New York! Let’s go!” His stage design became one of the defining elements of the performance, with a central platform that shifted throughout the night. Layered LED screens and two large side panels created a fully immersive environment, while live close-up camera feeds of JOJI’s face blended with his changing visuals during many songs.

Despite mentioning later that he was fighting a cold, JOJI’s vocals remained smooth and powerful throughout the show. He moved directly into the upbeat “Sojourn,” walking across the platform as the audience continued singing nearly every word. Before “Ew” began, JOJI paused to thank the crowd while standing center stage beneath a star-filled backdrop. As the song progressed, glowing red rings surrounded him, adding to the phantasmagoric atmosphere of the performance.

The show continued with a balance of fan favorites and newer material, separated by short intermissions featuring static-filled transitions. The production shifted constantly throughout the night, from eerie fiery eyeball imagery during “Hotel California,” to kaleidoscopic effects for “YEAH RIGHT.” “Daylight” brought a different vibe, using black and white visuals inspired by spider webs, snakeskin, and tree rings, while “Glimpse of Us” transformed the arena into a darker, fog-filled setting that matched the song’s emotional weight.

One of the most memorable moments came when JOJI sat at the edge of the platform and used a T-shirt cannon to launch shirts into the crowd. After the cannon stopped working, he continued by throwing the shirts into the audience himself. Later in the set, the platform rose high above the stage for “Will He,” creating another dramatic shift in perspective. During “Afterthought,” JOJI stepped back and allowed the audience to carry several verses on their own, taking in the moment before returning to the microphone to finish the final lines alongside fans.

Midway through the night, he paused to address the crowd. “New York, how are you doing tonight? I caught a little cold a couple of days ago, so I sound a little cooked, but we’ll get through this. Shit’s fucked up right now – me not you!” he humorously clarified. The energy continued to build through songs such as “Like You Do” and “Gimme Love,” which featured bright green lighting and neon-inspired graphics; a dancing robot companion briefly joined JOJI on stage during “Last of a Dying Breed,” delighting the audience with its silly antics. For the closing song, “Die For You,” the platform rose once again as psychedelic sunset imagery filled the screens, bringing the main set to a dramatic close.

After several minutes of fans chanting for an encore, JOJI returned for two final songs. He began with “1AM FREESTYLE” before closing the night with “SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK,” one of his most recognizable tracks. The audience sang along from the very first word, and as the song reached its emotional peak, they waved their arms to the beat while a massive flaring solar eclipse illuminated the stage behind JOJI. The striking scene provided a symbolic finale, connecting the overall performance back to the SOLARIS Tour name. As he began to depart, JOJI gave one last shout out, “Brooklyn, thank you! New York, I love you!”

The SOLARIS World Tour will continue through the end of November – tickets can be purchased here.
