Soul Civilian says love should be “Easy” in new single

Date:

Soul Civilian has released a dreamy new single, “Easy.” Marking the artist’s fourth single of the year, he’s solidifying their sound and immersing himself in the indie space, adding lo-fi and dream pop sounds into the track as well.

The drum melody pulls you into the song. The synth and snares of the drum are calming, setting it up for the crisp vocals. The electric guitar solo is beautifully composed and embedded into the song, giving it an extra something compared to your typical dream pop song. Vocally as well, the delivery of the song is dreamy and calming. The way he approaches each word is soothing and leads you through the song smoothly. Keeping to the slower to mid-tempo range, many fans familiar with the genre will find it’s reminiscent of Cigarettes After Sex.

The themes throughout the song are lighthearted and, like the song’s title suggests, easy to listen to. It’s a cute love song that creates such a bright and warm soundscape around it that it’s hard to not melt into it. Soul Civilian describes how a love that is meant to be will simply be easy. The lyrics, while on the simpler side, say all that needs to be said for the message to get across. With lyrics that are straightforward in their emotional intention like “You’re so easy / Have me questioning why it was so hard all the time,” there’s no need to try to decipher the true meaning behind the song.
