Monét Ngo finds love in “Sequoia”

Date:

San Jose native Monét Ngo has released a new single titled “Sequoia,” inspired by a trip to California’s Sequoia forest. The bedroom pop track is a love letter not only to the place itself, but also to the person who makes it feel like home.

Over beautifully stacked harmonies and atmospheric production, he sings in the chorus: “I’ve had a long way to go / A thousand steps I take / Just for me to come home / I’ve had the worst case / Of loving you too much / So now it’s time to come home.”

In an Instagram post, Ngo shared that “Sequoia” is “about falling in love with a place and all the memories that it holds.” The singer-songwriter further adds that “it’s about a journey back to love and realizing that home isn’t necessarily a place, but a feeling.”

The Vietnamese-American artist is going on tour with Sylo next year as the opening act on select dates. Fans can find tickets here.
