Calgary-based alternative hip-hop sister duo Cartel Madras (Contra + Eboshi) is back with new track “Evident 2 Me” featuring producer JIDE. It comes five years after the duo released their debut album The Serpent And The Tiger.
“Evident 2 Me” opens with an electronic vocal reverb “evident to me” that is pitched down slowly and transitions into a fast-paced rap verse charting a statement that someone is looking for revenge. The two-minute track also explores chasing trends instead of enjoying the little things without being distracted.
Contra and Eboshi’s lyrics go straight to the membrane as their fast-rap skills are the equivalent to Busta Rhymes’ verbose lyricism. Their wordplay wraps around the listener’s ear.
The new single is part of their upcoming album set to release next year. It boasts sci-fi aesthetics, fast-tempo electronic hip-hop production, and conscious lyrics, making it the perfect badass track to add to your workout playlist or a for little pick-me-up motivation.
