Life in your 20s comes at you fast. One minute you’re globetrotting, the next minute adulting hits you hard. Bristol-based producer and singer-songwriter Slowe’s sophomore record In Moments is a meditative take on life in your late 20s as it begins to unravel and change in a blink of an eye.

“How Hard Can It Be?” opens things up. The self-explanatory track asks how hard adulthood in your late 20s can really be. It explores the relatable and uneasy feeling of the added pressure, which sometimes completely consume you. Its soft vocals and soul-soaked melodies put the heaviness at ease.

“What If” opens with a breezy soul-jazz production that ponders identity and growth as the questions grow into the deep recesses of the brain. “Pen To Paper,” on the other hand, is the standout track on the record — a guided and meditative song brimming with a calm bassline and Slowe’s soothing vocals sounding like a lullaby.

“Not Asking The Stars” infuses lo-fi beats and R&B vibes for a late-night high, making it ideal for a romantic night out. “Temporary (You’ll Be Gone)” goes for the stripped-back late-night groove session with a bit of soul and smooth jazz influence.

“Sundown” featuring Alamay closes out the record. The duo’s soft yet velvety vocals drive home the hypnotic, beautiful song harkening back to Erykah Badu’s early work in the genres of of R&B and soul.

Slowe’s In Moments is a relatable and meditative record that confronts the experience of life in one’s late 20s and the notion of how scary change can really be. Backed by soulful arrangements with lo-fi aesthetics, it puts the mind at ease despite all the chaos that may be occurring in your life during this transitional phase.
