Sometimes a song is only part of the full story being told at hand. In order to give their two intriguing tracks, “DEFCON” and “DOES IT GLOW FOR A CHANGE?”, the experience and depth they call for, little image, has built a conceptual music video.

The visual features one character played by Koki Tomlinson, portraying layers of self-discovery and internal conflict and capturing the humanness of navigating one’s head while trying to make sense of it. To create a music video with a cohesive string of visuals that encapsulates such battles and phenomenons seems like a huge challenge in itself, but little image, in partnership with their longtime director and friend Sawyer Skipper, not only accomplished it, but did it with such precision and passion.

little image has been expanding on their creativity by honing in on storytelling power of music videos in this new era. KILL THE GHOST, the band’s new album released on March 27, has sparked a collection of music videos that gives way to the visual universe little image is sculpting, one concept at a time.

The “DEFCON + DOES IT GLOW FOR A CHANGE?” music video is proof that little image isn’t afraid to venture out and change things up. Unlike their past music videos, this one only features one character, battling against another version of themselves, forgoing the theme of the music videos centering the members of little image.

Focusing the watcher’s attention on one character creates an intensity and unsettledness, as there isn’t much they can do other than sit with this character while they endure this internal battle. With this maze of a concept they’re presenting, it only makes sense to pair it with complex, complicated visuals.

It is one thing to read about the messages and feelings that come across in this music video, but it is another to immerse yourself in the visual story yourself. Maybe, it will even allow you to connect with this song in a different light and allow you to relate your experiences in this visual world little image is opening up.
