“Golden” from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters makes chart history

Date:

The breakout anthem of the summer, “Golden” from the hit Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters, has soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making history as the first female K-pop act to ever top the chart. It’s also the first fictional group to claim the top spot since Disney’s Encanto, and the first female group at #1 since Destiny’s Child in 2001.

The film’s official soundtrack has racked up more than 3 billion streams worldwide and is the highest-charting soundtrack of the year, currently holding #2 on the Billboard 200 and logging seven straight weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Soundtracks chart. It also earned the title of #1 Soundtrack Debut of 2025.

Since premiering on Netflix on June 20, KPop Demon Hunters has broken records as the most popular Netflix animated film of all time and the first original animated film to land on the streamer’s Most Popular Movies (English) list. Critics have praised the movie’s vibrant music and action-packed story, with The New York Times naming it a Critic’s Pick, Collider applauding its “magical power of music,” and Variety hailing its original songs, including the chart-topping “Golden.”

Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, KPop Demon Hunters follows superstar trio Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, international K-pop icons by day, fierce demon hunters by night, as they face off against their toughest foe yet: a rival boy band with a dangerous supernatural secret. The voice cast includes Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo.

The film is streaming now on Netflix.
