Citizen invites fans into their next chapter via social media teaser

Date:

Citizen by Kyle Bergfors

On Thursday, April 23, Citizen invited fans into the band’s next chapter.

In a 15-second video showcasing the group on a dim, amber-lit stage accompanied by a drone-y sound bite, they declared that “music and tour” information would be arriving this week.

The band is inviting fans to text 419-273-6233 to gain first access to news regarding their upcoming release and touring plans. This level of direct connection is a hallmark of both the band and their label, Run For Cover Records. By cultivating artist-first, community-based album rollouts, the label from Boston serves as a testament to how independent support can provide the creative freedom necessary for acts to consistently subvert expectations the way Citizen does.

Defined by a constant evolution and never content to remain in the same sonic space from album to album, Citizen seamlessly blends gritty post-punk and ethereal shoegaze. In 2025, they toured alongside Turnover for a mostly sold-out anniversary celebration of the seminal album Peripheral Vision. The band also recently celebrated a decade of their own breakthrough record, Everybody Is Going to Heaven, a release that solidified their status as a pillar of the modern alternative scene.

Check back with Melodic next week for more information.
