Australian-Korean artist DPR IAN returns after 19 months with funky new single, “The Show”

Date:

After 19 months of hiatus, Australian-Korean visual director, singer-songwriter, and former K-pop idol DPR IANĀ (also known as Christian Yu) begins a new era with his latest singles, “Burn,” a one-minute intro interlude, and “The Show.”

To add context to the singles, a two-episode series titled Everything In Between dives into the unseen preparation of the artist and his creative regime: Dream Perfect Regime (DPR). In episode two, “OUT OF THE SHADOWS,” we step more into the source of the music, the art, and the pain in Ian’s life. He’s living with multi-personality disorder alongside the struggles of social media pressures and past resentments still lingering. Fans continue to see the breakthrough of authenticity within his music.

The release of “The Show” comes after his 2024 EP SAINT.Ā “The Show” serves as almost a complex “goodbye” to Ian’s personas — two opposing personalities named MITO and Mr. Insanity — and rather, it turns the spotlight to the sole life of Ian outside of these two personas within him.

With a mixture of husky, sincere vocals, lively drums, and a funky retro breakdown with electric, vibrating bass, it’s a declaration that from now on, Ian is ready to show the world the personal behind-the-scenes work, the inner healing and growth no one understands yet. It’s undeniable just how adored this artist is by his fans, and just how long they’ve been waiting for the new show to begin.
