Waterparks’ addictive new single is “BETTER THAN THERAPY”

Date:

Move over, therapists. Waterparks has discovered that falling in love is “BETTER THAN THERAPY” with the latest single from their upcoming album JINX, out July 24 via BMG. The genre-blurring trio first premiered the new track live during their set at Vans Warped Tour D.C., sending fans into a frenzy of anticipation before its release.

Frontman Awsten Knight fully leans into his romantic side on “BETTER THAN THERAPY.” The new single embodies the intensity of a relationship that feels so good it can heal all of your problems. It immediately establishes that sense of pure infatuation from the start, opening the first verse with “I like that you don’t got a waiting room / Where I sit there with other dudes / Waiting for my turn to get to you.”

The chorus feels as addictive as the love Knight describes, backed by punchy, distorted guitars and layered harmonies that add depth and richness. He continues to openly detail the idea of being entirely consumed by this connection, singing, “Draw you like Titanic / Worship you, Satanic” and “I like that you take care of me / Love me so much it’s scaring me.” This relationship might be the death of him, but right now it offers a better dopamine hit than any therapy session.

“BETTER THAN THERAPY” delivers everything you’d expect from a Waterparks song, but with a sharper sense of maturity and precision. Its instrumental radiates the same lively spirit of the Entertainment and FANDOM eras without overly relying on past influences. As the track progresses, Knight gently softens his voice for the bridge before the production erupts into an intense, glitchy breakdown and guitar solo. With only one month left until its release, JINX is already shaping up to be Waterparks’ strongest effort yet.

The trio will return to Vans Warped Tour in Long Beach, CA on July 26 before performing alongside Yellowcard, Dylan Cotrone, Saints of Saturn and 408 for 97X Next Big Thing Legends on September 4 in Tampa Bay, FL. Tickets and more information for these shows can be found here
