Eaux Claire’s Festival announces Aaron Dessner & Fred again… will give special performance on opening night

Date:

Last week, Bon Iver’s Eaux Claires Festival gave an important update regarding the lineup for their return to Carson Park after an eight year hiatus: Co-founder Aaron Dessner and Fred again… will team up for a special performance at opening night of the festival. Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon recently spoke in a press conference about Aaron Dessner’s contributions to Eaux Claires, noting “I co-founded this festival with Aaron Dessner, and daddy’s coming home. It wouldn’t be a festival without Aaron, without his guidance I would have never even had the idea”.

While revealing his Eaux Claires debut, Fred again… shared “On 24th July im gonna play a one off show with the guy Aaron Dessner at Justin Vernons festival Eaux Claires. Ive been exploring a lot with live improvisation and playing off of different people in a room, and embracing not knowing whats going to happen. I think thats a thing that is becoming increasingly precious to me. So this will be like that I think. Ive been having basically a year away from shows to jus write. BUT. These are two of the great musicians of the living world.”

Eaux Claires also revealed other changes to the lineup, including the addition of the Known MPLS choir on Saturday July 25th, furthering the festivals goal of bringing together local and international acts. These recent changes to the lineup unfortunately also include Lil Yachty having to drop from the festival.

The revival of Eaux Claires also brings the launch of “Writers in Residence”- a presentation of readings and discussions from literary titans all over the world including Michael Perry, Sheila Heti, Hala Alyan, Sean Thor Conroe, Kyle Seibel, Amanda Petrusich, Jon Mueller, Nicholas Gulig, Harold Rogers, Mike Nagel, Benjamin Percy, Nishant Jain, Mustafa, Safia Elhillo, Patrycja Humienik, Brent Schoonover, Gabrielle Calvocoressi, Brenda Cárdenas, Katie Ka Vang, Adam Voith, Avery Gregurich and Donika Kelly.

A festival map, set times, and full itinerary of all activities and events is expected to be released soon.
