A beautifully talented musician emerges out of Springfield, Missouri. 19-year-old star Willow Cook, formally known as willoh, has released her new single, “BUCKSHOT.” Filled with an expansive and intimate aura, the song presents a complex and compelling new voice in the scene of independent artists, allowing for listeners to slow down, ground themselves, and connect to the music.
A young artist balancing the life of a singer and working long shifts at McDonald’s, the innovation and talent of willoh is evident. Using programs such as Garage Band and now LogicPro, she is a creator who invests in herself and the improvement of her skill. “BUCKSHOT” shoots listeners through an emotional trajectory that comes full circle into repetition, the perfect alchemic recipe. “Throughout the creation of ‘BUCKSHOT,’ I learned a lot about acceptance. Realizing that acceptance doesn’t mean you’re instantly unaffected by change. I went through cycles of guilt for pouring too much of myself out, shrinking, losing confidence, blaming, being okay and then not okay again. Each section of the song was written in the middle of one of those emotions, ending only to begin the cycle all over again.”
Earlier in the year, the young star released a stunning new album entitled not more than that, but more please, an enthralling journey of 20 songs. It’s one that sits on repeat daily as there is more to be seen and discovered from the artist and her abilities.
