MARSEY doesn’t want to be “Just Friends” this summer

Date:

MARSEY’s debut single, “Just Friends” arrives in perfect timing to be the new indie pop song to lounge around by the pool listening to. The laid-back rhythms and MARSEY’s calming voice invites you to lean back and let its quiet ambiance wash over you.

The song’s lyrical narrative revolves around the playful idea of transforming a long-standing friendship into a romantic adventure during the summer. The verses delicately convey the internal struggle of desiring a deeper connection while being unaware if the opposite party wants to update the relationship as well.

The chorus repeats, “I know we always kept it just friends / But now I think that we could be more” and he later poses, “Let’s try until the summertime ends”.

MARSEY draws inspiration from notable acts such as LANY, The 1975, and The Band CAMINO while also saying his old music seemed like a combination of Ed Sheeran and John Mayer. Through these various inspirations, MARSEY creates a sound that’s uniquely his own– lowkey yet captivating, smooth yet emotionally resonant.
