A rising figure within the independent alt-pop scene, Knoxville, Tennessee-based singer-songwriter Briston Maroney is a pivotal musician to keep on your radar. Having made his musical debut back in 2017 with the release of his Bigshot EP, Maroney released an EP every year until 2020, where he released a steady stream of singles including his 2020 single “Freakin’ Out On the Interstate” which now has over 200 million streams on Spotify. In 2021 the singer released his debut full-length studio album Sunflower, which took nearly a decade to make and conveyed Maroney in a new musical era of overcoming his fears and anxieties.

In September of 2023, Maroney released his sophomore LP Ultrapure, an extensive body of work which takes a look at Maroney’s childhood memories. Combining more emotional tracks with danceable pop tunes, Ultrapure is a well-rounded creative journey for Maroney. To celebrate and promote the album’s release, Maroney embarked on his Ultrapure World Tour from October 2023 to April 2024. On May 11, the indie star set out on his Ultrapure Tour Part 2 where he’ll be touring across the U.S. Maroney is also set to play a number of different musical festivals this year, including Lollapalooza, All Things Go and Summerfest.

With a musicality that is equal parts emotive and light-hearted, Maroney has created a discography that is diverse in the emotions it produces for listeners. His latest album Ultrapure is a representation of reflection, whether it’s on your past, your relationships or yourself. Through this, Maroney is able to connect and relate with listeners across the globe, thus making him a rising star to keep on your horizons. The album itself, opening with a melancholy intro and ending with the title track, is cinematic in storytelling as Maroney is at his most vulnerable self. Throughout the course of the album, over acoustic guitars, heartfelt lyrics and upbeat catchy riffs, Maroney looks back on his past trauma and learns to let go of his fears. Now, as Maroney is becoming an artist that music listeners are keeping on their radar, the Tennessee native is learning to embrace the feeling of an ultrapure life.
