Artists SHUB and Sebastian Gaskin have teamed up to release their newest single “I Know.” The song is a part of SHUB’s upcoming two-part album, Heritage, out May 1 via SHUB MUSIC.
In Heritage, SHUB brings together Indigenous artists across generations, using collaboration as a way to explore identity, continuity, and community within contemporary music. SHUB’s work has long been centered on blending traditional Indigenous sound with electronic production. “I Know” marks a shift in that balance — placing intimacy and connection at the forefront.
Featuring vocals from Sebastian Gaskin, the track strips back the more ceremonial elements of SHUB’s sound in favor of something softer and more direct. Where previous releases draw from collective rhythm and tradition, “I Know” focuses on personal connection — a quieter expression of the same themes of resilience and care that run throughout the wider project.
SHUB shares his experience with the collaboration, stating:
“Working on this one with Sebastian was one of those sessions where the chemistry was instant. We actually ended up writing two songs that day, but this one stood out straight away. Sometimes a record just finds its own lane when the right people are in the room.”
Sebastian also had his own take on the process, sharing:
“Shub & I wrote this imagining our cultures as a lover. It’s about returning to where we come from and remembering that our roots don’t just ground us — they hold us.”
“I Know” is just one single that showcases the growth SHUB has gone through as an artist, and it’s just a taste of what is to come from his upcoming album.
