Oliver Tree, popular EDM artist made famous for songs like “When I’m Down”, has tragically passed away at just 32 years old in a Brazilian helicopter accident.

News broke June 14th on local Brazilian news outlet, O Dia, who named Oliver Tree as one of six victims following a crash in the city’s western neighborhood, Recreio dos Bandeirantes. Tree was in Brazil following a June 6th performance in Sao Paulo as part of his ongoing world tour.

The crash reportedly occurred around 9AM with Brazilian aviation authorities investigating the cause of the collision, with reports of Brazilian Air Force at the scene collecting evidence, according to Dexerto

Brazilian Civil Police reported that there were five people in one of the helicopters with the other aircraft only carrying the pilot. The victims have been identified as Oliver Tree Nickel, Lucas Brito Chaves, Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, pilot Alexandre Souza, and pilot Charles Marsillac, according to G1.

Both vehicles fell into an electric vehicle parking lot, resulting in a massive fire, resulting in mass panic in the area according to Hindustan Times. Rio Fire Services Lieutenant Colonel Fabio Contreiras, noted to CNN, that the fire has made it difficult to determine the exact cause of the collision, but that the investigation is ongoing, and they need to gather recordings and videos to “understand exactly what happened.”

This is a developing story.

I am a music writer and concert photographer who thrives by the chaos and electricity of live music. I love capturing the charged moments that seem fleeting, blinding lights, subtle expressions, the emotionally charged space between artists and the crowd where everything feels louder, more golden. I love translating that energy through both images and words. From cramped local venues to massive stages, I move in fast-paced, unpredictable environments, documenting shows as they happen, preserving their memory. I’m drawn to the raw, the unpolished, the real, and the intimate, building visual and written narratives that pull people back into the room. Wherever I am, I’m focused on memorializing the feeling of live music so it doesn’t disappear when the last song ends.
