Transmission received: MUSE launches new single, album, tour

Date:

On March 19, iconic rock powerhouse MUSE announced their 10th studio album, The Wow! Signal!, and released their first single off the album, “Be With You,” via Warner.

After slews of cryptic messaging, the highly anticipated landmark album has been described in a press release as “a mix of cosmic mystery, existential hope, and the exhilarating possibility of contact with something far greater than ourselves.”

On the heels of their 2022 album Will of the People, which charted No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums, bassist Chris Wolstenholme hailed that the time between albums “gives you that opportunity to reset a little bit and think about what’s gonna happen going forward.” on an episode of the Leona Grahm Podcast.

With a fresh set of eyes, the upcoming album is heavily inspired by one of the most iconic interstellar mysteries of the last century. Pulling from a 72-second radio burst detected in 1977 from the constellation Sagittarius, the album title is inspired by the astronomer who discovered the signal, as they famously circled the sequence “6EQUJ5” writing “WOW!” next to it, cementing the discovery in scientific history and pop culture.

The tracklist:

1. The Dark Forest
2. Nightshift Superstar
3. Shimmering Scars
4. Cryogen
5. Be With You
6. Hexagons
7. The Sickness In You & I
8. Unravelling
9. Hush
10. Space Debris

The album announcement came alongside the release of the first single, a powerfully grand, organ-heavy ballad, setting the stage for a new chapter in the MUSE story, entitled “Be With You.”

I am a music writer and concert photographer who thrives by the chaos and electricity of live music. I love capturing the charged moments that seem fleeting, blinding lights, subtle expressions, the emotionally charged space between artists and the crowd where everything feels louder, more golden. I love translating that energy through both images and words. From cramped local venues to massive stages, I move in fast-paced, unpredictable environments, documenting shows as they happen, preserving their memory. I’m drawn to the raw, the unpolished, the real, and the intimate, building visual and written narratives that pull people back into the room. Wherever I am, I’m focused on memorializing the feeling of live music so it doesn’t disappear when the last song ends.
