Some remixes aim to transform. Others choose to reveal. On his latest release, Portland-based producer FENRA does something closer to the latter, reshaping AUNCE’s ethereal cover of Radiohead’s “All I Need” into a slow, immersive study of space, restraint and emotional weight.
Rather than building upward, FENRA pulls everything inward. Where AUNCE’s original interpretation leaned into lift and lightness, this remix settles into something more grounded, almost meditative. The tempo breathes. The structure loosens. What remains is a carefully sculpted atmosphere where each element feels deliberately placed, and just as importantly, where silence is given equal importance.
At the center of it all is the voice. AUNCE’s vocal performance, already delicate and otherworldly, is given room to exist almost in isolation. It drifts through the track without urgency, surrounded by soft pulses, dub-leaning textures, and a low, steady undercurrent that anchors the piece without ever overwhelming it. FENRA does not compete with the vocal. He frames it.
This approach speaks to a deeper understanding of the source material. Instead of referencing the original track directly, the remix focuses on emotional residue rather than structure. The familiar weight of “All I Need” is still there, but it feels diffused, stretched across a new musical landscape where tension is replaced by stillness.
There is a quality to the production. Subtle details emerge gradually: distant pads, faint rhythmic patterns and textures that feel almost physical in their presence. It is the kind of track that rewards attention, revealing new layers with each listen.
