The Los Angeles-based indie rock trio Kid Sistr has released their latest single, “American Teenage Prophecy.” The track is a stripped-down confession of queer love and uncontrollable attraction.

Alongside the single, the group released the heartfelt music video, which reimagines girlhood across many decades.

As a queer band, the sapphic messages throughout both the song, which the band says “imagines a world where queer love is as natural as breathing,” and the video are evident. While at times messy and at times shy, it is filled with a nuanced fantasy of queer love stories. The band shares more:

“The song is meant to imagine a world where queer romance flourishes in all the ways straight romance is allowed to: first kisses in tree houses, passing notes in study hall, high school prom, dorm room romance, in every decade, every state, every country. What are the love stories we could have if there was nothing standing in our way?

Kid Sistr is composed of native New Yorkers: bassist Sara Keden, guitarist Sabel Englert, and drummer Becca Webster.
