Germano, a Brazilian pop artist, released his new single “GIANT” this week, along with a self-directed music video. The indie pop track, layered with guitar riffs and dynamic drums, showcases Germano’s multifaceted musical talents while telling a story that is both relatable and intimate.
He describes the song as having multiple meanings, one being about overcompensating or becoming “too much” for someone, whether platonically or romantically, while getting to know them. Another interpretation reflects the emotional fatigue of bottling up feelings while trying to overcome personal obstacles. He elaborates further:
“I talk about the ways that dealing with me can be complex at times but in a self-deprecating way. As I grow older, it’s become easier to understand that a lot of times the way people act towards you is not personal. I’ve realized maybe I’m just too self-aware and not actually ‘too much’ for people.”
Born into a musical family, Germano has honed his craft as a self-taught, all-around artist, writing, recording, and producing all of his music from his bedroom. His background in acting has also contributed to his creative vision, allowing him to produce his visuals. The music video for “GIANT” was entirely shot and directed by Germano himself.
He gained thousands of followers with his breakout single “Lost Crowd” and plans to release his debut EP by the end of the summer.
