Balter’s new single “used to be” challenges the typical love song

Date:

“used to be,” released by Balter from their debut EP, someday, is not like other love songs. Produced by Jonathan Hooks, the track explores the highs and lows of love, particularly at a young age. Lead vocalist Tom Drury shares more about the track:

“It compares the feeling of being in ‘love’ and how drastic it can feel at a young age, almost as if it has changed your life, and shows the naivety of how dramatized it can all be.”

The Northampton-based group is made up of Tom Drury, Jake Lewis, Liam Kay and Jack Fox. They spent last summer in the studio working on the project, which came to fruition on May 16.

The band has already received early support from national blogs and even earned a tour announcement on BBC Introducing. Balter hopes to express their love and passion for making music, drawing inspiration from artists like Mac DeMarco and Boy Pablo.

To celebrate the release of their new EP, Balter is set to perform the following shows:

05/31 – Luton, UK – All Your Friends Festival
06/04 – London, UK – SXSW London – Jaguar Shoes
06/19 – Isle of Wight, UK – Isle of Wight Festival
07/12 – Northampton, UK – Delapré Abbey with Ocean Colour Scene
