Alexa Kate highlights self-sabotage in “The Aftermath”

Date:

Pop artist Alexa Kate has dropped her newest single “The Aftermath.”

The track acts as the second single off Alexa’s highly anticipated third EP. “The Aftermath” is about what happens after self-sabotage and the liminal space that exists only after it is too late.

The song showcases Alexa’s soft yet powerful vocals and brings about a feeling of comfort through its calm instrumentation. “The Aftermath” is bright in tone, but the lyrics house the underlying pain of being the one to self-sabotage in a relationship. As the song starts, Alexa sings, “I’m my own worst traitor / Oh I made you the enemy / Like I’m doing you a favor / The second I leave.” With lyrics like these, the heartbreaking reality shines through to the audience.

Listeners in the midst of this kind of heartbreak may find this healing track in their playlists faster than they can blink.
