Demi Lovato has released “Kiss,” and its accompanying music video, as the next single off her upcoming ninth album, It’s Not That Deep, out October 24 via Island Records. The track has become a fan favorite online since Lovato teased it by playing it at a nightclub back in August.
As the new album title suggests, “Kiss” is a fun club-ready song in which Lovato talks over an electro-pop beat in the chorus, saying, “I kiss for fun, it’s fun to kiss / I use my tongue li-li-li-like this.” Reminiscent of Charli XCX, the new dance-pop record is produced by frequent collaborator Zhone, who also worked on the first two singles, “Fast” and “Here All Night.”
In the music video, Lovato is seen in different settings while people around her passionately make out, as the quick and ever-moving camera work perfectly matches the upbeat song.
While “Kiss” is just as energetic as the previous singles, it is different in that it leaves aside the powerhouse vocals Lovato is known for, only to create her most carefree record yet. Her much-anticipated LP marks the superstar’s return to pop music after her 2022 rock project, Holy Fvck.
