The party people’s princess is back. The first single off RG2, “Club To Your Arms” soundtracks the after-afterparty, the hazy bus ride home, and the hungover Sunday mornings waking up exactly where you want to be.
It almost reverses the scene in previous single “Everything Changes (But I Won’t)” from her debut album Louder, Please: “‘Cause everything changes / But I won’t when the party stops being fun / I have the patience / To stay home when you come down from the drugs.” Now Rose Gray no longer waits for anyone: “You found me, but I found you too / Straight from the club to your arms.”
“Club To Your Arms” expands upon what Rose has shown she does best: perfected pop song structure, hooky synths, and introspective lyricism. The house-infused production by dance pop visionary Zhone (Charli xcx, Troye Sivan, Kesha) let Rose’s vocals shine in ways they haven’t in her past releases. While it’s a much less daring sonic palette compared to the electric bangers of Louder, Please like “Free,” “Wet & Wild,” and “First,” the track further solidifies her ability to find the nuances and ambivalent spaces in party music.
Rose Gray makes bops for the lover girls, the party girls, and all those in between.
“Club To Your Arms” is out everywhere now.
