Barb dares you to love her in new queer tribute single “lily”

Date:

Looking for the perfect track for your queer playlist? Look no further as the talented musician Barb has released her newest single, “lily” from her lily ep.

After putting her D1 athletic career and 3x NCAA top-finisher identity to rest, the singer-songwriter caters her talents to developing stories inspired by and based around heartbreak, the fears of falling in love, mental health, and the mid-20s chaos. Barb’s muse, when it comes to inspiration, takes shape in the form of artists like The Beaches, girl in redTash Sultana, G Flip, and The 1975.

With her most popular songs being “beside you (so boring!)” and “Just Say So,” she has become an artist who’s both relatable and reliable (and also funny). She describes her music with these words: “My music as a conversation: Them: ‘What’re you doing??’ Me: ‘My best’.”

“Lily” serves as a tribute to the queer 2025 cinematic masterpiece, Imagine Me & You, a film centered around the relationship of two women who meet at one’s wedding day. A sapphic love story with an (actual) happy ending, the song blends gritty guitars and yearning vocals to create the sense of queer longing and wishful thinking, creating “what-if” scenarios in one’s heart. Much more is to be anticipated from this talented artist.
