The Wait is Up for Kehlani’s New Mixtape

Date:

You can now stream the R & B songbird’s highly anticipated third mixtape, While We Wait on all major streaming platformsAfter teasing fans with early releases “Butterfly”, “Nights Like This”, and “Nunya”, Kehlani released her nine-track long follow up to successful 2017 album, SweetSexySavage. With the new project,  Kehlani keeps her signature sound, featuring poetic and relatably-honest lyrics over well-produced beats.  After making noteworthy guest appearances on some of 2018’s most popular songs including “Ring” with Cardi B, “Done for Me” with Charlie Puth, and “Playinwitme” with Kyle; it’s safe to say Kehlani is not one to shy away from collaborations. While We Wait features Dom Kennedy, Musiq Soulchild, Ty Dolla $ign and 6lack in the mix of cohesive songs produced by Hit-Boy, Sir Nolan, The Rascals, and more.

Album highlights:

  • A rap interlude on “Morning Glory” that is hard not to mistake for the late talent portrayed by TLC’s Left Eye.
  • “Nunya” featuring Dom Kennedy where Kehlani’s often 90’s inspired production shines best.
  • “Nights Like This” is a noteworthy collaboration in which Ty Dolla $ign and Kehlani blend perfectly, narrating the heartbreaking end of the relationship on a song you can’t help but dance to.
  • The lyrics on “Footsteps” with a haunting chorus “when I walked away I left footsteps in the mud so you could follow me”.

1. Footsteps (feat. Musiq Soulchild)
