After two years, Mayday Parade is wrapping up their album trilogy with their new album Sugar, which will be released on July 24.
The three-part project serves as the band’s eighth studio album and features nearly 30 songs total across each release. Sugar is a culmination of Sweet and Sad, blending together the happier and more introspective elements of the two previous chapters for its finale. “Weekend Music” is the latest taste of the new record following “Blame It On The Youth.” The lively effort is a fun, nostalgic pop-rock track that revitalized Mayday Parade’s confidence in their craft. Speaking on the release, vocalist Derek Sanders shares,
“When we began working on Sugar – part three of a three album release – I started to get concerned that we had overextended ourselves. That the good ideas had run dry and needed more time to replenish. Weekend Music is one of the songs that came together and put me at ease, it has the catchiness and complexity that I was looking for. It feels good to be able to create a song that we’re proud of so deep into our career.”
Mayday Parade will be heading back out on the road for a few dates surrounding their festival appearances at Vans Warped Tour, Four Chord, and Aftershock starting next month. Tickets and more information on the band’s upcoming dates can be found here.
