After years of sharing the stage with pop icons, indie star Del Water Gap is continuing to grow in fame. Similar to the likes of Chappell Roan and Remi Wolf, Del Water Gap is an  artist who has now risen above the status of a fan-favorite opening act. After opening for Niall Horan on the U.S. leg of his The Show Tour, Del Water Gap became a favorite among Horan fans, and became famous among the fanbase on TikTok following his initial opening performances.

Before opening for the former One Direction star, Del Water Gap also opened for Holly Humberstone, girl in red and Maggie Rogers. The singer-songwriter has also graced the stages of numerous festivals (Austin City Limits, Governors Ball, All Things Go) and even made his television debut as a musical guest on The Late Show with Seth Meyers.

Del Water Gap is the solo project of New York native Samuel Holden Jaffe. Based in Brooklyn, he began to rise in fame after the 2020 release of his single “Ode to a Conversation Stuck in Your Throat.” While studying music and sound production at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, he met Maggie Rogers. Rogers soon joined Jaffe’s then band, Del Water Gap, and was a member for six months. After other band members backed out, Del Water Gap became a solo project of Jaffe.

Now with five EPs and two full-length albums under his belt, Del Water Gap released his sophomore LP I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet in September 2023. The album featured contributions from Clairo and Arlo Parks, and reached 97 on the Top Current Album Sales chart. This last August, Del Water Gap dropped the deluxe edition of the album, which featured two new singles — “Purple Teeth, The Bravery” and “Midas” — as well as a live version of the song “Doll House.”

Praised for his glittering approach to alternative indie pop, Del Water Gap has a musicality that seemlessly remains with listeners long after an initial listen. Similar to the likes of The Neighborhood, Del Water Gap takes on a musicality that moves slowly, lingers and remains like smoke. With a career that has faced significant mainstream success that continues to grow, there’s no doubt that Del Water Gap is a powerful rising star that everyone should keep on their radar.
