Daniel Seavey expresses the memories that linger with “Time to Time (Annie)”

Date:

Daniel Seavey has just released “Time to Time (Annie).” It is a thoughtful, reserved song that looks at what it means to have moved on from a person while still holding on to some part of them. It does not emphasize the pain associated with heartbreak, but rather focuses on the realism of reliving the memory of a former relationship despite the undeniable progression of one’s life.

The production is quite simplistic and soft, effectively ensuring that the emphasis remains on the emotions being portrayed. Seavey’s voice aligns with this production style, making sure that there are no exaggerations since he seems to be thinking through his emotions.

One thing that sets this track apart is the specificity of the emotions being conveyed. Lyrics such as “I heard you found somebody, I got somebody too” indicate that this is not about regretting the loss of a loved one. Instead, it focuses more on the oddity of finding out that the person who was once everything to you has also moved on with their life and no longer shares your existence.

The chorus nails the essence of the piece: “When you’re alone in the dark, am I someone that you think about?” This song is not about getting things back, but about being relevant in your memories. And this, in turn, makes it stronger than an ordinary breakup song.

The lyrics “Is it so wrong that I miss you sometimes? / at one point you were the love of my life / is it so wrong that you’re still on my mind? / it’s only from time to time” sound like he’s trying to explain himself. In any case, it perfectly reflects the song’s very essence – moving forward does not equal erasing memories; they sometimes pop up, and you can’t control it.

Daniel revealed in an Instagram post what this song has meant to him as an artist:

“time to time was the first song i wrote that came from this place. facing my past, my thoughts, myself with pure honesty. the more i’ve let out in these new songs the more free i’ve felt. i’m not trying to be perfect this time, not trying to say the right thing. it’s just me. from every word to every sound, my hands have been on it all with this one.”

Alongside the song, he also released the official “Time to Time (Annie)” music video.

Overall, the song is successful precisely due to its authenticity. It does not seek to be too dramatic or philosophical, but simply reflects a familiar emotion that people rarely speak out about.
