Nashville singer-songwriter Mokita has released “easy come, easy go,” the first single from his upcoming project.
The new song is a breezy love letter in which the multi-instrumentalist writes about finally letting his guard down for the right person. Over an acoustic guitar, Mokita opens the song confessing, “Used to think that everything would fall apart / So I built a wall to put around my heart / Tucked away / Thinking it’d be safe.” Reminiscent of LANY, the chorus features the singer’s stacked, smooth vocals, as he declares he has changed, “It was always easy come, easy go / But I can’t seem to let you go / So I’ma hold you tight / ‘Cause baby you were hard to find.”
About the inspiration behind the song, Mokita says:
“For so long in my life, relationships never felt super permanent. I was always hesitant about commitment, and it even took me a while to ask my wife on a date. Once I did, though, I was all in. This song is about being sure of someone, for the first time in my life.”
Since debuting in 2016, Mokita has amassed half a billion streams with hits like “colorblind” and “London.” Last year, he released his self-titled debut album.
