San Diego’s Observatory North Park was the place to be last Friday night as Fontaines D.C. performed to a mosh pit, post-punk, cram packed, electrified room. Grian Chatman, the lead vocalist, sang his heart out- all the while managing to interact with each corner of the venue. He had the crowd fizzing and singing along to their heavy, fiery lyrics.
Fontaines D.C. has the beautiful skill of roping people in with their unique sound. They fill the room with a selection of different delicious guitars and heavy bass lines, not forgetting a tasteful amount of drums, and of course Chatman’s low, ardent vocals. Their latest album, Skinty Fia, had the audience responding as if they had been playing it on repeat for weeks. By the second song, the crowd was moshing with big grins and moving like tall waves crashing in the middle of the ocean. It was obvious the band brings an infatuation out of people who want a taste for more.
