Calussa launch new label, release ‘White Tiger’ EP

Date:

Over the past few years, Calussa have provided fans with lively and rhythmic house music that they can dance to. Comprised of brothers Gino and Andrew Gomez, the Miami-based DJ and producer duo’s songs have topped the charts on Beatport, have been supported by artists like Black Coffee and Keinemusik, and have been performed live at some of the biggest stages in the world, like Tomorrowland and EXIT Festival. Their breakout single “Fell in Luv” was released on Diplo’s Higher Ground label and went on to receive much acclaim from Billboard and Spotify. Calussa have even released music through their own label, Hurry Up Slowly, but have found that it is time to try something different.

With their new label, NUSONIDO, Calussa are able to take their sound and steer it in a new direction. The label focuses on promoting tech house and Latin-inspired grooves that reflect the brothers’ Miami heritage and globally inspired sound. It also concentrates on fostering a more mature identity for the duo, which fans will be able to hear in the release of the label’s first EP, White Tiger.

In partnership with Australian producer Ben Miller, White Tiger contains two tracks that flaunt Calussa’s new dynamic and refined sound. The title track is very rhythmic, with cool base beats that add depth and dimension to the faster-paced house beats heard throughout. It also has compelling vocal lines sprinkled on top, which give it an animated edge. “The Power,” meanwhile, contains more playful and pronounced rhythms that enhance the fresh house and tech beats. Additionally, the siren-like vocal motif only builds, adding some drama and suspense to the track.

About NUSONIDO, Gino shares,

“This is the perfect time to start something new. We’re playing a different kind of music in our sets, and we’re inspired by a fresh sound that didn’t quite fit with the identity of our old label. NUSONIDO gives us a clean slate.

Andrew also explains,

“Hurry Up Slowly became more of one thing—Afro house—while this new label gives us space to explore multiple genres through a house lens.

“These tracks show the side of us we want people to hear more of. They bring in that early 2000s house vibe but feel current and club-ready.”
