MUNA have finally returned to the stage and we couldn’t be more excited that they are back and better than ever. High off the heels of their fourth album release, Dancing On The Wall, which has seen immense praise, the band have been playing album release shows to celebrate. First starting off in LA at The Shrine for two sold out shows to fans eager to hear the new album live for the first time. After two powerful shows in LA, the band would head east to New York to play a whopping four sold out shows back to back to back to back from May 16th-19th at the iconic Music Hall of Williamsburg. When these shows first went on sale tickets sold out within minuets and tickets were highly sought after. Fans have surely missed MUNA and they were eager at any chance they could get to see them. Luckily we were there at the final forth show in New York to give you the scoop on everything that happened that night so buckle up it’s a fun one!

Dancing on the Wall is a work of art from MUNA and one of their best albums to date, though it is hard to pick a favorite as all of their albums are incredible and unique in their own way. Getting to hear the new album in full in a 600 cap venue full of MUNA’s most dedicated fans was certainly a night to remember. The first three nights of the New York shows were just as incredible but seeing a closing night show is always a bit more special. Not to mention it was a scorcher outside, as temperatures in NYC reached the 90’s that day and it was a scorcher as well inside the venue thanks to MUNA putting on such an insane show. They really bring the heat (literally) to every show they play. MUNA were right when they said “It Get’s So Hot”.

Speaking of heat, MUNA opened the show with album starter “It Get’s So Hot”. The crowd was going nuts from the start and brought the energy early on. They would then go into “Dancing On The Wall”, which felt like one giant dance party. The energy was electric in that room and you could feel it throughout the night. The band would play the entire album in order, and even though it only came out about two weeks ago, fans already knew all the lyrics to each song, screaming them back when played. That just shows you how dedicated MUNA’s fans really are.

MUNA expressed their gratitude to the fans for always showing up for them and their support over the years, and how much they mean to them. They talked about how special these album release shows have been and how amazing it is to be back on stage performing and just giving everyone a safe space to let lose, have fun, and just be themselves unapologetically. MUNA have always been the best band at creating safe spaces like that for their fans and the queer community especially. Being a queer band themselves they have always strived to do that and make their voices heard and make sure their communities voices are heard as well. That’s why MUNA is one of the best to ever do it.

Fans were in for more treats that night as although it’s an album release show, they of course can’t forget about the favorites from their discography. After they played the album closer, the raw emotional “Buzzkiller”, they would step off stage for a breather. The crowd would enthusiastically chant “MUNA” for them to come back out. To the roar of the crowd the band stepped back on stage to play eight more songs from their other three albums. “Stayaway” was the first of the bunch and fans were waiting to scream the iconic bridge of the song back at them. It was so loud you could barely even hear the band, it was electric. They would then go on to play “What I Want”, “Number One Fan”, and they even threw in “Everything” to the fans surprise. They had played “Everything” the night before as well but the other shows they played “Promise”, but decided to change it up for NYC. Ending the night off with of course none other than “Silk Chiffon” because sometimes life is so fun, and it was definitely fun in NYC.

MUNA always know how to put on a fantastic show every time they tour, bringing electric energy, nonstop dancing, and queer joy all the time. It’s simply why they are the greatest band in the world and there is no stopping them any time soon. With two more album release shows in London remaining, MUNA will embark on their full length “It Gets So Hot Tour in the fall. You can find out more tour info and grab tickets here. Don’t miss out on MUNA coming to a city near you!
