LIVE PHOTOS + REVIEW: GRiZ // Atlanta, GA

Date:

Thursday and Friday night, GRiZ came through Atlanta on his Ride Waves Season Two tour, and I was able to catch his show at the Coca Cola Roxy.

GRiZ is a widely admired American DJ who is known for his funky saxophone tunes combined with electronic elements that put him into several genres including EDM, funk and electro-soul. His sound is truly unlike anything out there, and the same goes for his show. He included several other vocal artists in his very upbeat and lively show, which I thought added an interesting dynamic to the tour. GRiZ captures the attention of the crowd in several ways, including his groovy saxophone sounds combined with electronic sounds, vocals and amazing visuals to keep the crowd dancing all night.

The Ride Waves Season Two tour has an overall fun and carefree vibe for fans to enjoy and dance to the upbeat and undeniably catchy songs. This show was full of unexpected moments as GRiZ kept to the back of the stage to let other band members take lead, adding even more diversity to the show with hip-hop and soul elements. The show definitely would have had a whole different dynamic without those band members taking the spotlight.

GRiZ has surely grown throughout the years as he lands more and more festivals and books two shows in a large city like Atlanta. He has changed the name of EDM by incorporating funk and soul with his saxophone and vocalists that joined him. It was a fun and funky night at the Roxy that I know Atlanta thoroughly enjoyed. Not to mention it was Pride weekend in Atlanta, which GRiZ took a moment to recognize and celebrate at the end of the show.
