Born in Manila and now based in Los Angeles, Eyedress has spent the past decade carving out a sound that’s impossible to pin down. From lo-fi hip-hop and post-punk to goth-inspired melodies and dreamy indie rock, the Filipino artist has built a loyal following through his genre-blurring approach, earning viral success with triple-platinum hit “Jealous” and platinum-certified singles “Romantic Lover” and “Something About You.” Now, he’s embracing a new creative chapter with “Alone At Night,” a hypnotic collaboration featuring Loren Rivera of Whirr.
Released through Atlantic Records in partnership with Eyedress’ newly launched label, Psychedelic Industries, “Alone At Night” fully leans into the shoegaze influences that have long inspired his music. Built around hazy guitars and a dreamy alt-rock atmosphere, the track pairs Rivera’s ethereal verses with Eyedress’ understated chorus.
The collaboration came naturally after Eyedress reached out to Rivera, inspired by both Whirr’s music and the opportunity to work alongside another Filipino artist. Adding another layer of sentiment, the instrumental was originally created in Eyedress’ former Altadena studio before it was lost in the devastating California fires, making the song a meaningful piece of that chapter in his life.
As Eyedress continues to evolve his sound, “Alone At Night” marks not only the beginning of a shoegaze-driven era but also a confident step into his future as an independent creative force.
