Munan, the indie-rock project of Korean-Australian artist Peter Lee, is teasing his upcoming EP with the final single to be released, “Jeju Organic Green Tea.” Maybe more along the lines of neo-psychedelic music, the sound takes inspiration from fellow Australian/New Zealanders such as Tame Impala and Unknown Mortal Orchestra while blending in the influences of Mac DeMarco and Toro y Moi.
A super fun modern psychedelic tune, “Jeju Organic Green Tea” is as laidback as it is bouncy, as much a product of its influences as it is something new. It has the familiar softly saturated vocals of Australian psychedelic music while bringing in boppy riffs, and an almost bossanova-like funk.
A lot of the lyrical focus is on the title of the song, Jeju organic green tea. Floating along lush gardens, grabbing some tea, and just relaxing in the wind. The track art and rollout is filled with 2bit video game nostalgia and straight up chill greenery. It makes you want to trip out, go outside, and just enjoy everything that the natural world has to offer. Who knows, maybe you’ll even come across some tea in the garden.
