The third member of BLACKPINK to announce a solo album, JENNIE has newly unveiled the title and cover art for her debut solo album, Ruby, six years after making her solo debut with the single fittingly titled “Solo.” The album, named after JENNIE’s middle name, Ruby, is set to release on March 7 through her label Odd Atelier and Columbia Records. Ruby marks her first solo release since departing from YG Entertainment and Interscope Records in 2023.
This announcement comes just three months after the release of her single “Mantra” in October 2024, which reached the top 5 on the Billboard Global 200 and South Korea’s Circle Digital Chart. The album consists of 15 tracks, including six collaborations with Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, FKJ, Dua Lipa and Kali Uchis. The CD versions of Ruby will not include any verses from the featured artists that appear on the streaming version.
Recorded primarily in English, JENNIE described the process as a way of “bringing myself to the world for the first time,” in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. Through this album, JENNIE aims to fully embrace her identity as “Jennie Ruby Jane, for that to be a whole person,” she told Billboard, referring to the alter ego she created as a child while living in New Zealand.
