Recent News: Will release their sixth studio album Soft on October 10 through Sunset Garden and Virgin Music Group.

After over a decade of creating music together, Paul Klein and Jake Goss — together making the musical project known as LANY — are gearing up to release their “softest” musical effort yet. This Friday, the duo will release Soft, their sixth full-length studio album, through their own label, Sunset Garden, and Virgin Music Group.

Directly following their previous LP A Beautiful Blur (2023), Soft has so far been made known through two singles “Know You Naked” and “Last Forever.” Through both singles, Soft is displayed as a gentle, vulnerable and poetically heartfelt body of work — one which portrays Klein and Goss going back to their dreamy electro-pop roots that they have become synonymous with.

With four EP’s, (soon to be) six full-length albums, and numerous singles to their name, LANY have risen to great musical success since their 2014 debut. Over the years, the duo has danced along the edge of numerous pop influences, experimenting with synth-pop, dream pop, and alt-rock to establish for themselves an unmistakable sonic identity. Known for both their ethereal musicality and honest explorations of love and heartbreak, LANY convey both an intimate sense of nostalgia and a refreshing elixir of modernity.

Initially formed in 2014 by Klein (vocals, lead guitar), Goss (drummer) and Les Priest (keyboard), LANY self-released their debut EP Acronyms that same year after quickly earning attention from record labels following the release of their first few singles — which the group chose to put out anonymously. Along with the release of Acronyms came significant praise from several songs off the album, including “ILYSB,” “Bad, Bad, Bad” and “Made In Hollywood.” After these tracks gained massive success, the band revealed their true identities to their growing fanbase.

In 2015, LANY continued to rise within the pop rock landscape, releasing two EP’s (I Loved You and Make Out), signing with Polydor Records and embarking on several different tours supporting the likes of Troye Sivan, Elle Goulding, Halsey and more. The following year, LANY embarked on their debut headlining tours and released their Kinda EP.

In the years that followed, LANY have maintained a continuous touring and release schedule. In 2017 they supported John Mayer — an artist they cite as a major influence — on tour before releasing their self-titled debut full-length album. The year after that they dropped their sophomore album Malibu Nights and proceeded to play their first run of arena shows, even going on to sell out several of these dates. As they continued to rise to indie pop stardom, LANY released three more LP’s: Mama’s Boy (2020), gg bb xx (2021) and A Beautiful Blur (2023). In between the release of gg bb xx and A Beautiful Blur, Priest left LANY, and Klein and Goss moved forward with the project as a duo.

Now, after garnering a devoted fanbase and looking back on a decade of music together, Klein and Goss prepare for the release of Soft. Through their enticing, dream pop compositions and cathartic lyricism, LANY now stand as one of the most exciting acts within the modern pop rock landscape. After years of thrilling sonic evolution, the duo is now ready to deliver something undeniably honest, true and soft.
