Green Day releases the trailer for upcoming comedy film, ‘Nimrods’

Date:

Followers of Green Day officially have something else to cheer about. The trailer for Nimrods, originally titled New Years Rev, is out and gives us a taste of the upcoming comedy film based on the band’s touring days when they were just starting their journey in the music industry.

Written and directed by Lee Kirk, the movie centers around three aspiring young rockers, who think they have gotten an opening act for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. The rest of the movie features a very chaotic road trip across the country during which anything can happen to the characters.

The film features actors Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust and Mckenna Grace. On the other hand, three Green Day members; Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool are involved in the production of the film in addition to appearing in the film. Other featured actors include Fred Armisen, Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey.

As described by the group itself, the movie was inspired by their van travels and performances during the early stages of Green Day’s career before the commercial success of Dookie.

The movie Nimrods will hit the cinemas on August 14, giving all the Green Day fans a chance to laugh along and get emotional with the antics that molded one of the greatest punk rock bands ever.
