Singer-songwriter GALE collabs with pop duo Lagos on “Por Si Las Dudas”

Date:

Puerto Rican artist GALE is full of confusion on her latest single “Por Si Las Dudas,” which released on Nov. 1, in collaboration with Latin-grammy nominated duo LAGOS. The Latin pop song perfectly captures the uncertainty people have when they are hesitant to end their relationship.

Over a pulsating pop beat, listeners are immediately thrown into an emotional story of the heart being unable to let go. In her chorus, GALE executes the questions that fill one’s head when they’re in that mindset as she drives the idea of needing to experience the person more in lyrics like “Antes de perderte quiero estar segura / De que tú y yo no estamos hechos para estar juntos,” which means “Before losing you, I want to be sure / That you and I aren’t meant to be together.” GALE’s and LAGOS’ voices mesh beautifully when they sing, “Él es el amor de mi vida pero / No debería tener ‘pero’,” which translates to “He’s the love of my life but / There shouldn’t be a ‘but’.” The artists’ voices rise throughout the song to channel frustration that creates an immersive listening experience.

LAGOS, who are up for Best Pop Song at the 2024 Latin GRAMMYs, says they are happy to work with GALE. Members Luis Jimenez and Augustin Zubillaga elaborate:

“Since we heard the song, we loved it and we are very happy that she has invited us to participate in it. The production is incredible and we are very honored to be on this song with her.”

GALE’s music is very personal as she dives into her journey through feminist punk anthems, vulnerable heartbreak ballads, and dream-pop odes to self-pleasure. She proves herself as a rising Latina pop star with previous Latin Grammy nominations and earning her first Premio Lo Nuestro nomination for Best New Female Artist earlier this year.
