Sidney is in it for the “long haul”: her newest single out now

Date:

Melbourne singer-songwriter Sidney is in it for the “long haul” with her newest single dropping. Since the talented artist’s debut in 2020 with “Bullet,” she’s steadily climbed the music chart rankings with achievements such as earning the No. 1 spot on Triple J Unearthed, Coast FM, and Southern FM radio.

“long haul,” an intimate and raw indie-pop track, feels as if it came straight out of a movie soundtrack. The song is written from the perspective of a person in an early relationship: hopeful, full of life and passion, but already carrying a hefty weight.

Inspired by iconic sounds from artist like The Japanese House, Gracie Abrams, Lizzy McAlpine, and Holly Humberstone, the song emotionally confronts the feeling of showing up over and over again, even when things are hard.

She shares more about the release:

I was traveling constantly for work and loving what I was doing, but I couldn’t bring my partner with me. We were fighting a lot. I wanted him to celebrate the wins with me, and I felt guilty for being away, even though I wasn’t going anywhere emotionally. ‘Long Haul’ was my way of reassuring him – and maybe myself – that I was all in.”

“long haul” sits at the core of the artist’s newest EP, what if it ends?, which comes out February 27. This EP will not only consists of this recent single, but it will also include songs such as “golden boy,” “sliding doors,” and “what if it ends?“. Much more is to be anticipated from this whimsical and unique artist!
