Cade Hoppe releases “Still Turn This Around,” the lead single from upcoming album, ‘Safer at a Distance’

Date:

Here at Melodic Magazine, we have been lucky to witness the evolution of indie-pop singer, songwriter, and producer Cade Hoppe over the years. From 2021’s debut EP, Tell Me How It’s Worth It, to 2022’s Everything That’s Wrong With You to 2023’s Just Look At The Moon, Hoppe has grown from creative newcomer to self-assured artist. He has tackled themes like love, loss, identity, and purpose, all the while setting these themes to atmospheric, moody music.

For the past several years, Hoppe has been crafting his upcoming album, Safer at a Distance. Due for release later this year, the album explores Hoppe’s ever-changing relationship with music and with himself. Listeners will recognize some of the emotions that come through, from existential dread to modest reflection, as Hoppe tries to find meaning. He gives us a glimpse of what’s to come with the album’s lead single, “Still Turn This Around.”

“Still Turn This Around” focuses on the weight of pursuing a dream without knowing what it can bring. Hoppe’s vocals remain calm and steady against the lush production, which opens up more and more throughout the song. Meanwhile, Hoppe sings, “Cruise control, don’t fail me now / Got a fever petering out / Swear to god I’m not slowing down,” ready to find answers. The hints of warmth that radiate from the instrumentals bring an energy that keeps the momentum going and gives us hope that Hoppe will get what he wants.

About the forward-moving vibe of this single, Hoppe shares,

“You don’t know where you’re going or how to get there, and every added mile is an extra mile if you ever decide to turn back. It’s like Newton’s Fourth Law (probably): forward momentum + paralyzing indecision = keep going.”
