Melodic Music Monday: May 12

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

Miley Cyrus, “More to Lose” – Miley Cyrus debuts “More to Lose,” a vulnerable ballad that mourns the loss of a relationship ahead of her upcoming album, Something Beautiful. The newest single from Cyrus was performed for the first time during an exclusive pre-Met Gala event hosted by Moncler in New York City. The delicate vocals and instrumentation capture the realization of a love that has slipped away — the person you once knew is gone.

– Reagan Denning

——

Maroon 5 and LISA, “Priceless”Maroon 5 has been a major player in the pop music scene for decades. They are known for winning the hearts of many through their blend of rock, R&B, and pop genres. In their new song, “PRICELESS,” Maroon 5 has teamed up with LISA to share a love story.

– Emma Celenza

——

Paul Russell and Saweetie, “That Girl” – On “That Girl,” Paul teams up with rap superstar Saweetie for a fun and feel-good track that is perfect for summer. It has lively beats, nostalgic record scratches, and lavish lyrics that are playful and narcissistic in the best way. While Paul sings, “It’s criminal, that girl is so fine / I’m cuffing you tonight, you’re all mine,” Saweetie confidently boasts, “So fine (Like mint condition) / So fine (I’m the definition).” You can check it out below.

– Christine Sloman

——

Calum Hood, “Call Me When You Know Better” – In his latest solo offering, “Call Me When You Know Better,” Calum Hood dives deeper into the storm of vulnerability that defines his debut solo album, ORDER chaos ORDER, out June 13 via Capitol Records. Following the emotionally rich “Don’t Forget You Love Me,” this new single affirms Hood’s transformation from bassist in a stadium-filling pop-rock band (5 Seconds of Summer) to a soul-baring singer-songwriter forging a sonic identity of his own.
